It would seem everyone has gone "digital" mad. We're living in a world where population are obsessed with the latest gadgets, from owning the smartest phone, the biggest televisions and the most interactive game consoles. Everyday activities like shopping, banking and even reading, have all become abruptly accessible straight through the power of digital technology, breathing new life into the way pick to lead our lives.
For some of us these technological advances are having a determined impact on our personal lives and the link between smartphones and the internet via collective networking sites has become a appropriate in digital communication. Being digital has helped to dramatically heighten our inpatient recall processes. When compared with most practices our advent is pretty unique as we try to cut the use of paper as much as possible. Rather than using the still base advent of sending a letter, our first step is to send an email, then one month later a text message. These two methods are not only more cost effective; salvage on the costs of stamps and more importantly staff working time, but we have found that patients tend to acknowledge more speedily when using this technology. The text messaging assistance has also been an extremely beneficial tool for reminding patients of their appointment, giving them time to cancel or reschedule if need be and significantly reducing our 'fail to attends'. The result, a Xx% reduction in "no-shows"!
This, combined with the ability to manage all areas of the practice by seeing at statistics, reporting, assessing chair time and monitoring our Key carrying out Indicators, has meant that introducing a practice supervision theory has more than proved its worth within the practice. But as an Nhs practice it's the Uda manager tool that we have come to rely on most. This invaluable module has helped us to identify exactly where we stand in regard to each of our contracts, allowing me to visually manage and monitor our activity more accurately, so that we meet our targets. In the lead up to April, I can imagine many practices up and down the country are currently feeling the pressures of trying to meet their Uda target before new contracts are introduced. Uda manager helps to remove the guesswork and avoid clawbacks, it also ensures you do not overshoot your target either - a situation which means you can be treating patients for no remuneration. In these uncertain times I would advise any Nhs practice who wants to take control of their Uda contract, to embrace the level of information offered straight through the benefits of Uda Manager.
Using a computer to keep control of the practice has freed up my time immensely, as I have been able to delegate a huge whole of my time safe in the knowledge that I'm not at risk of forgetting vital information. I'm hoping that the recently installed Computer Telephony Integration (Cti) which automatically identifies every in-coming telephone call and automatically displays the appropriate inpatient record, will added heighten practice efficiency by reducing significant time spent on the phone.
Our practice supervision theory plays a vital role in all 3 of my Nhs practices. I have been able to organize each of them straight through the power of digital technology and advancements of a single practice supervision theory and I couldn't imagine working without one. I'm shocked that practices are choosing to work without such innovative equipment. Now that I'm a "paperless" practice I wouldn't have it any other way. So if you view that "video killed the radio star" then digital is assuredly set to kill the paper-run practice!
